NEWS RELEASE: The Low Carbon Energy Company cautiously welcomes governments Green Deal
Sustainability specialists urge consumers to shop around for best solutions and best finance packages

THE Low Carbon Energy Company has welcomed the introduction of the governments Green Deal initiative, but has urged consumers to be cautious!

Ged Ennis, Operations Director of The Low Carbon Energy Company, said: First and foremost we stand for sustainability, so any move that is intended to financially assist businesses and residential customers in their move to renewable energy sources is to be welcomed.

That said, I have some concerns, so I would urge people to proceed with caution, added Mr. Ennis.

The coalition governments 2011 Energy Act included provisions for the new Green Deal that intends to reduce carbon emissions by revolutionising the energy efficiency of British properties. The deal involves a financial mechanism that will eliminate the need to pay up front for energy efficiency measures, with the cost being covered by savings on electricity bills. This will see supplier subsidy and Green Deal Finance come together in what the government is describing as a seamless offer to the consumer. The Low Carbon Energy Company has recently been appointed as one of the North West of Englands first independent Green Deal assessors.

Mr. Ennis said: My concern is that there could be a land grab, with the market opening up to new entrants. Im sure some of these players will be reputable, but they wont have the depth of knowledge or same level of experience as long established environmental businesses like The Low Carbon Energy Company.

There will no-doubt also be a white-sock sales guy element, added Mr. Ennis. They will have a specific finance package and a specific product and theyll try to get you to commit to them they take a one-size fits all view of sustainability. Instead, people should shop around, as there are a range of options for finance. The same is true in terms of solutions for example, we offer Solar PV, Wind Turbines and a range of heat pumps basically well provide the most appropriate solution to suit your circumstances.

The Low Carbon Energy Company has recently signed deals with Sharp (Hitachi Finance) and also The Carbon Trusts Seimans package to offer customers a range of finance options. The business is also the UKs exclusive supplier of UGE helical wind turbines and is set to launch the UKs first portable Solar PV panels the latter of which will be aimed at people with mobile homes and canal barges.

BrandSpankin' launches mobile marketing services
We've just launched a radical new marketing solution to help east Lancs businesses make more money.

Mobile or proximity marketing operates using mobile handsets that have Bluetoothe enabled, allowing business to send messages, discount codes and special offers to people who are in the immediate vicinity, allowing businesses to pull in people who might otherwise just pass by.

The UK has more active mobile contracts than people and over 90 per cent of handsets have Bluetooth functionality - potentially giving businessess unprecedented levels of access to foot fall they would otherwise miss out on.

"Open rates" for this form of mobile marketing are in the region of 13 per cent, whereas traditional small business marketing techniques such as door drops, direct mail or flyers can typically have as little as 0.5 per cent response rate. We've spent ages trying to source the best mobile marketing solution and we've been really impressed with the kit we've got. It's really robust and the reporting it can deliver is superb.

Unlike a lot of traditional marketing forms you can really measure the effect of this approach and see an unprecedented return on your marketing budget. This kind of solution makes massive sense for small businesses such as bars, clubs and taxi businesses - but equally larger enterprises like football clubs, supermarkets and concert venues can see huge and immediate responses.

Lancashire's Longest Doodle
This week we set off on our attempt to create Lancashire's longest doodle. Besides the fact that we hope to raise a bit of money for Pendleside Hospice, we want to get people involved in a basic artistic activity - as we think that creativity spawns ideas that can be the bed-rock of regeneration. We've seen it happen in London in places like Shoreditch - and we'd love to be part of a process like that in Pendle. The doodle itself is taking shape on a 200 metre length of cotton because we wanted to reference the former economic glories of our area, but our real focus is on future successes!

The response so far has been great - and the enthusiasm of the pupils at the two schools we've visited has been really excellent. We doodled 25 metres in two days last week! Any schools, businesses or community organisations interested in participating in Lancashire's Longest Doodle should call BrandSpankin' on 01282 878 301.
